Historical information
The presence of Romans was noted as early as the Gallic invasion, and was reinforced over time by the construction of the Cottia Way, linking Rome to its provinces in southern Europe, via the Col de Montgenèvre.
Réotier and Saint-Clément were a single town until the early Middle Ages, and, according to tradition, split in the 13th century. The two towns were separate in 1284.
The parish of Réotier, which initially stretched as far as Saint-Clément, was dedicated to Saint Pancras.
After separating from the parish of Saint-Clément, the parish of Réotier was dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel.
